We know it’s a massive headache to return to your car and find a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) when you’ve already paid through RingGo. While we don't issue the fines ourselves, we want to make sure you have everything you need to resolve this with the parking authority.
Step 1: Check your digital record
Before you start your appeal, it’s a good idea to double-check that the "critical three" details on your booking match your parking session exactly. Open your RingGo app or log in to your account to verify:
Vehicle Registration (VRM): Did you select the correct car from your account?
Location Code: Does the 4 to 7-digit code in your app match the one on the street signs where you parked?
Duration: Was your session still active at the time the PCN was issued?
Step 2: Review local signage and tariffs
Every parking area has its own set of rules managed by the local council or a private firm. Sometimes a PCN can be issued for reasons outside of your RingGo payment. We recommend a quick check of the local signs and tariffs to ensure:
You weren't parked in a restricted bay (like a disabled space, permit-only zone, or loading bay).
You followed specific "No Return" or maximum stay rules.
Your payment covered the correct tariff for that specific time or day.
Step 3: How to handle the appeal
Because RingGo is your payment provider and not the enforcement authority, we cannot cancel a PCN for you. To challenge the fine, you must follow the official appeal instructions printed on the notice itself.
Your best evidence: Download your RingGo VAT receipt from your account. This is your official proof of payment. When you submit your appeal, include this receipt to show the authority that you had a valid booking at the time the PCN was issued.
