At RingGo, we want to make parking accessible and stress-free for everyone. While the Blue Badge scheme usually offers exemptions, rules can vary depending on who owns the parking area.
Here is how to stay confident and compliant when using your Blue Badge with RingGo.
1. Check Local Signage First
Parking rules are set by local councils and private operators, not by RingGo. Before you leave your vehicle, always check the street signs or car park boards. They will tell you:
If Blue Badge holders can park for free.
If there is a time limit (you may need to display your parking clock).
If you need to pay for additional time after an initial free period.
2. No Registration Needed with RingGo
In most areas, you do not need to register your Blue Badge with RingGo. If the local rules allow free parking for badge holders, simply display your valid Blue Badge clearly on your dashboard. You donโt need to start a session in the app unless you are staying longer than the free allowance.
๐ South Western Railway (SWR) Locations
If you are parking at a South Western Railway station, the process is slightly different because they use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).
Register Online: You must register your Blue Badge and vehicle details via the APCOA Blue Badge Permit Portal.
Stay Covered: Once registered, your parking is complimentary for one year at SWR stations.
Timing is Key: Registration must be completed by 23:59 on the day you park. * Display your Badge: Even after registering, you must still display your physical Blue Badge in your vehicle.
๐๏ธ City of Westminster
Westminster has unique rules and does not follow the standard national Blue Badge concessions in many of its busy zones.
To avoid a surprise fine, please check the specific Westminster City Council Disabled Parking page before you travel.
๐ก Reliable Reminders
Visibility: Ensure the serial number and expiry date are clearly visible through your windscreen.
Expired Badges: The RingGo app cannot "validate" a badge's expiry. It is your responsibility to ensure your permit is in date.
Need more time? If the signs say you only get 3 hours free but you need 5, you can use the RingGo app to pay for the extra 2 hours.
Empowering you to travel with ease and making our cities accessible for all.
